Due to today’s snow, the social justice committee meeting planned for tonight has been cancelled.

Still on, though, is volunteer training at 5:30 p.m. Thursday for the community meals served to low-income families and individuals by Grace United Methodist Church. Zion will serve the meal March 28, finishing in time for the Maundy Thursday service.

Lots of volunteers are needed. Meet at Zion at 5:30 p.m. to troop over to Grace.

Make a day of it at church next Sunday, March 3, and stick around after coffee hour β€” or return between noon and 3 p.m. β€” to help support Southeastern Community College’s Costa Rica project. A spaghetti feast is promised for a freewill offering, and there will be a silent auction, too.

The next session of Zion’s thought-provoking Adult Sunday School starts a new series, led by John Riessen, centering on the book, “The Divinity of Doubt.” Be there at 8:45 a.m. this Sunday for coffee and discussion about the role of doubt in faith.

Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent. Please gather in the sanctuary tonight at 7 p.m. for the imposition of ashes β€” a moving and ancient ceremony. It will be a moment for prayer and reflection as we begin our Lenten journey.

Beach party blast!

There was plenty of sand and smiles at Zion tonight.

Grab your beach blanket and flip-flops for tonight’s NOIZ Nites, 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. at Zion. We’re having a beach party, complete with a picnic meal and fun and imaginitive games to chase away the winter cold. We’ll learn a little bit about the time Jesus spent at the beach, too. Come dressed in beach clothes if you can. For our youth, and those who are youthful at heart.
