Tribute to Zion’s Veterans on November 11

We are planning a tribute for all Zion’s veterans on Veterans Day – Sunday, November 11, during the worship service. Please submit a photo of the veteran in uniform. The photos should come with name, branch of service, and years of enlistment, as well as information about any combat tours of duty or wars served in.

We MUST have them by Tuesday, November 6.

Please email your picture and information to sandralevins.

If your photo was included in last year’s PowerPoint presentation, there is no need to send in another one. We still have it on file.

If you don’t have an electronic photo or access to email, you may bring your photograph to the church office. We will scan it and have it available for you to pick back up on or after Sunday, November 11.

NOIZ kids welcome at Kidsymphony

Usually, kids and symphony orchestras don’t mix. It’s because of that whole being quiet thing.

But the annual Kidsymphony concert put on by the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra is different. At Kidsymphony, a concert for families, the kids get to be a part of the concert. Kids are invited to bring their own hand-made percussion instruments and play along. Zion children, youth and families are encouraged to attend.

Look for a sign-up sheet this Sunday on the bulletin board just inside the sanctuary. The concert is at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Capitol Theater in downtown Burlington.

Let us know how many youth and adult tickets you want. Tickets are $2 for kids and $3 for adults, with the cost to be covered using youth group funds.

This is a youth group event but kids of all ages are welcome. Also, adults can come with the kids but we will have enough adults to chaperone so if you want to drop off and pick up the concert lasts about an hour.

We are going to meet in the lobby of the Capitol Theater at 4:15 and sit together. Please sign up so we know how many tickets to get. Any questions, please call Lisa Neises at (319) 759-6737.
